If so, Athwal Resourcing is currently recruiting a newly created role of Group Accountant on an exclusive basis for an ambitious, growing group of businesses. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Group Accountant will oversee the reporting of the Management Accounts and Statutory Accounts, be instrumental in the monthly production of the MI Pack for the Executive Team and Board of Directors as well manage the statutory audits for the multiple businesses within the Group.

The Group Accountant will be an integral part of the Finance team on technical accounting issues, on ensuring the smooth running of the department, and reporting of the financials as well as work on added value projects around the business.
Financial Control Fully responsible for the control and reporting of the Group companies, maintaining robust and timely financial reporting, review monthly management accounts and ensure all day to day accounting is completed accurately including Balance Sheet controls accounts and provide support for the production of the management accounts when necessary;
Financial Reporting Monthly production of the MI Pack and Management results and preparation of Board Reports. Ensuring the timeliness of all financial reporting to Board and external stakeholders and follow up any queries where necessary;
Analytical Review Fully understanding the Company’s accounts and ‘drill down’ into the detail of all accounting, cash flow reporting, taxation and reconciliations;
Statutory Reporting Ensure adherence to all regulatory reporting and external requirements in a timely manner including producing the annual financial statements to UK GAAP, tax computations including VAT Returns and Corporation Tax returns as well as industry submissions;
Liaison with External Authorities Managing all the year-end processes and being the point of contact for the external auditors, tax authorities and maintaining bank relationships;
Technical support and Group Initiatives Advising operational managers and accounting team on accounting and group financial reporting issues;
Initiatives and Ad hoc projects Working with the Head of Finance on financial and operational initiatives and finance control across the company. Assisting in the continuous development of the financial systems for management accounts, budgeting/forecasting and financial reporting as well as ad hoc projects and implementing group initiatives.
To be successful, you will be:
A fully-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA) with at least 3 years’ post qualified experience;
Have a background either from a group environment within industry or experience of managing audits from practice;
Have excellent technical skills and able to demonstrate technical proficiency and up-to-date knowledge of IFRS accounting and UK reporting;
Must have experience with Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables), macro knowledge and financial modelling is desirable;
Cognos /TM1 (or similar software) experience is advantageous;
Meet reporting deadlines both internal and external;
An excellent communicator and be able to set and manage expectations;
Excellent team player with the enthusiasm, adaptability, tenacity, and an absolute commitment to achieving objectives;
A self-starter and can organise own workload and have the managerial ability to run a team to tight deadlines.
