Athwal Resourcing is recruiting a fantastic opportunity for a Project Accountant to work for a large service business based in Telford. The role will give exposure to Management Accounting, Finance Reporting, and provide invaluable financial and commercial experience whilst supporting the operational teams. You will support the finance team and business partner the operational team in order to produce management accounts; identity and understand the key cost drivers, risks and opportunities within the business.
The Project Accountant will be responsible:
Preparing the monthly management accounts packs, and the forecasting and budgeting adhering to accounting policies within agreed timescales;
Taking ownership of a detailed monthly reporting accounts pack and presenting the financial position at monthly reviews to the internal stakeholders;
Ensuring effective financial controls are in place and maintained including balance sheet health checks;
Identify potential business risks/issues which affect business performance and ensure actions are in place to mitigate risks;
Business partner the non-finance internal stakeholders to effectively support and challenge;
Understanding contractual and accounting issues and providing financial support for large bids;
Ensuring best practice and raising financial and commercial awareness with internal and external stakeholders; and
Proactive involvement in the development and management of on-going process improvements and operational efficiency to aid decision making.This Project Accountant role is a key interface between commercial, operations and managing the finance team.
The successful candidate will:
Be a qualified/finalist accountant who has hands on experience of preparing finance information;
Have a background within a project accounting environment;
Have the ability to operate and communicate and influence at all levels both verbally and written;
Have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and be strong on Excel; knowledge of Oracle/Business Objects would be an advantage;
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to proactively interact with and challenge internal stakeholders;
Able to prioritise own workload in a pressured environment and work to tight deadlines;
Be motivated and have an eagerness to learn and progress.
