Accountant

New role as Accountant for a successful and growing, privately owned food business, based in Wolverhampton, which produces high quality fresh and frozen foods, supplying the UK and International customers. The company has an enviable client base across the foodservice sector and has a leading reputation and certification for Quality.

The role of Accounts Assistant is central, administering the Company’s Ledgers on a day-to-day basis, managing all financial responsibilities, and working alongside the other departments.

The role is very varied and reports to the Finance Manager. You will:

• Assist in the preparation of the monthly accounts in line with the accounting timetable;
• Prepare the month-end pack, including Profit and Loss schedules, journal entries, margin reporting, variance analysis, accruals and prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations,
• Ensure all sales ledger and purchase ledger invoices are processed and coded correctly;
• Updating and maintaining the cash book, including bank reconciliations;
• Process the weekly payroll for 50 employees
• Any other adhoc reporting required by the senior management team and support other team members as the need arises.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in an accounts department with a solid understanding of the finance function and accounting processes, particularly sales and purchase ledger, is essential.
• A solid understanding of ‘book entries’ will be required;
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the business;
• Have the ability to multitask and be able to cope with the pace of a volume-driven busy accounts function;
• Be hands-on with helping out with the workload of other team members should the need arise;
• Have excellent attention to detail and be organised;
• Good understanding of Sage50 accounts package and experience in implementation of ERP systems knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics; would be an advantage.
