Are you a Finance Manager looking for a new challenge? If so, Athwal Resourcing is working with a growing automotive manufacturing company that has multiple production facilities in the UK and are now looking for an Assistant Financial Controller for its UK business based in Telford. The role will report to the Financial Controller and be responsible for preparing timely and accurate management accounts and also be expected to support the business by preparing relevant, timely and accurate information and analysis.
This is a critical role for an ambitious individual who is looking to step change their career and take ownership of the management accounts in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Key duties include:
Group Month End Reporting and Financial Control: Development, preparation of period, quarter and annual financial packs and management accounts as required to tight Group reporting deadlines;
KPI Reporting: Development of a dashboard of KPI’s, both financial and operational for analysis, internal reporting and distribution to local management;
Cost Accounting: In the heart of the business you will be pivotal in the preparation of detailed product costing (include the review and validation of Bill of Materials and routings and Overhead cost rate calculation) for models to show true product profitability. Including variance analysis against budget and standard costs – review and explain costs variances including material usage, purchase price, productivity, etc;
Investment Appraisal: Initiation, control and reporting of capital expenditure projects and post-implementation appraisals;
Operational Excellence: Assist operational managers with decision making processes, working with the stakeholders of the business from non-finance personnel to directors in physical stocktakes root cause analysis and corrective actions of variances and working with Commercial team on internal costing processes;
Tooling Costs: Control and reporting of tooling cost and revenue, maintaining records and reconciliation to General Ledger;
External Reporting: Support in the preparation of UK statutory accounts with full responsibility of maintenance of costs records relating to Government grants and preparation of Quarterly Monitoring Reports;
Budgeting and Forecasting: Take responsibility for sales, material, labour and overhead cost budget and forecast preparation;
Cash Flow: Preparation and review of short-term working capital management and weekly/monthly cashflow forecast including foreign currency cashflow forecasts and preparation of currency hedging requirements;
Internal Control: Assist and support internal, external and SOX audits and assist the Financial Controller in the development and implementation of SOX controls and procedures;
System Efficiency: Assist with the implementation of SAP modules including testing of new processes, training users and issue resolution;
Adhoc Projects: Involvement with continuous improvement (CI) projects, monitoring and reporting cost savings.
The ideal Assistant Financial Controller will:
Have hands-on finance experience within a Manufacturing and/or Automotive sector;
Have the ability to work in a fast pace environment, ideally from a SME environment in high growth which has been part of a larger group;
Have working knowledge of cost analysis and product profitability;
Work collaboratively to achieve project/company goals and have the ability to be a team player and promote a team approach to problem solving and work on own initiative;
Have a strong drive to ensure there is continuous improvement in processes & procedures and getting things done;
Be able to communicate with all levels of the business, both with finance and non-finance staff and have the ability to influence and manage stakeholders;
Have a high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with short completion times for projects;
Experience of maintaining accounting controls in a changing environment;
Able to design and introduce robust procedures to deal with a growing business;
Excellent analytical skills and experience with SAP. Hyperion would be advantageous;
Be a proactive and self-motivated individual who is capable of taking ownership of undertaking new projects.
