If so, Athwal Resourcing is currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant for an engineering business to work closely with the Finance Controller. The Assistant Accountant would be vital business support while also providing the challenge to improve processes.
The main responsibilities for the Assistant Accountant are:
Assist in the preparation of the monthly accounts, including journal postings
Provide overhead reports to understand overhead variances and improve Budget /forecast accuracy;
Prepare and review the balance sheet reconciliations;
Review, reconcile and control the aged creditors;
Prepare and report on the weekly cash forecasts;
Responsible for the intercompany recharges;
Assist on monthly payroll;
Regularly reviewing and improving the financial processes;
Assist the Finance Controller with ad-hoc projects.
The required skills and experience are:
Fully AAT qualified or Graduate Part qualified CIMA/ACCA;
At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in preparing the financial accounts with a good understanding of accruals, prepayments, cash management and reconciliations;
Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the business;
Possess excellent Excel (pivot table, VLOOKUPs);
Have the ability to work positively and pro-actively either independently or with other colleagues;
Ability to working under pressure and attention to detail;
An inquisitive individual who has the ability & desire to identify & continuously improve processes;
Excellent time management skills to ensure operational queries and commitments are always delivered on time;
Be proactive with a positive can-do attitude and have the ability to investigate anomalies and identify any potential issues.
