A rare newly created part-time Finance Assistant opportunity has arisen for a fast-paced growing business comprising of 2 companies based in West Bromwich. The business offers the flexibility of c25 hours to suit the individual to support the business in its next phase. The business continues to grow organically, and the Finance Assistant position has been created to strengthen the finance team.
As the Finance Assistant, you will carry out the day-to-day accounting duties and manage the company’s finance to trial balance whilst taking on the responsibility to ensure the day-to-day administration of the busy office is running smoothly. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and a business that is evolving. Reporting into the external Accountant, however, you will work closely with the Managing Director and Office team on a day-to-day basis.
The Finance Assistant’s responsibilities include:
Processing purchase invoices, expenses and dealing with all supplier queries;
Setting up and maintenance of customer records, including dealing with customer queries and carrying out credit control duties;
Sales ledger invoicing and maintenance of billing schedules for online sales;
Preparing supplier payment runs and reconciling supplier statements;
Preparing and posting monthly accruals & prepayments;
Involved in bank and balance sheet reconciliations;
Supporting the month-end accounts process preparing and posting journals into the ERP system;
Collate and process all the information required for the preparation of payroll of staff;
Monthly reconciliation of company credit card statement;
Setting up and Documenting processes and accounting procedures;
Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the company.
The ideal candidate will have worked in an SME environment in a hands-on finance role.
AAT part qualified level 1-3 qualification desirable or qualified by experience;
Extensive hands-on processing and base accounting experience in assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts;
Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge;
Excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel;
Positive attitude and wants progression;
Self-motivated and ability to manage workload efficiently;
Must be able to work on own initiative and work well within a team.
