Athwal Resourcing is recruiting for an excellent opportunity for a Head of Financial Reporting to join an exceptional, fast-paced, overseas-owned group based in Wolverhampton. The business is a dynamic group of companies that have enjoyed rapid growth over the last few years, organically and via acquisition. Over the past few years, their growth has meant the Group needs a high calibre Head of Financial Reporting to join the senior management team.
As Head of Financial Reporting, you will oversee the overall accounting functions for the UK operations, ensuring the management accounting, financial reporting, and robust financial controls and disciplines are in place within all the UK subsidiaries and in line with the parent company’s reporting policies. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing financial procedures into the new acquisitions and maintaining and improving the financial health of all the UK subsidiaries and future acquisitions. You will be instrumental in ensuring financial performance aligns with the strategic goals and that opportunities and risks are communicated. The role will ensure that information provided to stakeholders is accurate, timely, and of the highest quality and detail, establishing monthly routines that translate into efficient and timely audits and submission of Financial Statements.
Head of Financial Reporting responsibilities including:
Finance reporting Fully responsible for the control and reporting of the UK businesses and its trading companies, maintaining robust and timely financial reporting, reviewing monthly accounts and ensuring all day-to-day accounting is completed accurately;
Finance Performance Preparation of Board Reports and ensure full transparency to the Board on the UK Subsidiaries financial performance and be fully responsible for the consolidated financial accounts for the UK Group;
Finance Controls Ensure high-quality financial controls are in place and standardise the procedures across the subsidiaries and timely monthly reporting to Group;
Liaison with Internal and External Authorities Managing and coordinating all the year-end audit processes and audit and submission of statutory accounts and being the point of contact for the external auditors and tax authorities;
Staff Management and leadership for a team of 10 finance reporting staff. Responsible for the recruitment, performance and development of all the financial accounting staff, ensuring personal development plans and training needs are recognised;
IT Literate Ensure the systems can facilitate finance reporting;
Commercial Lead Leading on integrations of acquisitions and ensuring all reporting completed;
Initiatives and Ad hoc projects Working with the Finance and Group on strategic and commercial initiatives and financial control across the company.
The successful candidate will be:
Graduate calibre with accountancy qualification of ACCA, ACA;
Up to date knowledge of current IFRS and audit practices.
Experience managing teams in large complex Groups;
At least 5 years experience in a senior financial leadership position;
Multi-sited expertise and ideally from Audit/accounts preparation;
Have demonstrable experience in integrating businesses via acquisition;
Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and integrated ERP systems;
Results-focused, strategic thinker and planner;
Continually challenges & influences key personnel to make balanced decisions for the benefit of the whole business;
Confident in reporting to overseas Group parent;
Excellent leadership skills in managing large finance team;
Keen to work autonomously and have the ability to think pro-actively;
Able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
